Bert Verdonck, Chief Executive Officer, Luxembourg National Data Service (LNDS)
Bert Verdonck is the Chief Executive Officer of the Luxembourg National Data Service (LNDS), a governmental body dedicated to advancing responsible data sharing across sectors such as health, education, mobility, energy and more. With a PhD in medical image processing from ENST Paris and a Master’s in electrotechnical engineering from KU Leuven, he previously spent over 20 years at Philips, leading initiatives in healthcare informatics, data and AI strategy. At LNDS, he champions ethical data reuse, embedding data protection by design and fostering cross-border collaboration through frameworks like Gaia-X. He also contributes to European data policy as a board member of Gaia-X and ELIXIR, as an advisor to the Data Spaces Support Centre, and by promoting Luxembourg as a secure and innovative digital hub.

Alain Herrmann, Commissioner, National Commission for Data Protection (Commission Nationale pour la Protection des Données – CNPD)
Alain Herrmann joined the National Commission for Data Protection (CNPD) of Luxembourg in 2012. In 2021, he was appointed Commissioner. He is currently focusing his efforts on preparing the CNPD for its new responsibilities arising from the AI Act and the Data Governance Act.

Marc joined the Digital Learning Hub in June 2025 as an advisor on business development, partnerships and corporate relations. Before he acted for 6 years as one of the 4 Commissioners to the National Data Protection authority (CNPD). Earlier he had several leadership roles at the SnT of the University of Luxembourg, at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology and created Bridging Gaps to collaborate as an independent advisor with innovation-driven companies, public institutions and business associations.
